OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Main goal: Give a contribution to the Egyptian Museum Requalification System.
Specific objectives:
1. Implement skills and knowledge of technical and scientific staff in 5 museums in Cairo: Egyptian Museum, Coptic Museum, National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMECD), Islamic Art Museum, Textile Museum.
2. Re-organize display and exhibition area of the Midan Tahrir Museum in Cairo

1. ISCR’s Education Programmes for the Preservation of the Egyptian Cultural Heritage:
The Museology, Preservation and Restoration training programmes are addressed to technical and scientific staff of the 5 museums in Cairo (the Egyptian Museum, the Coptic Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization- NMECD and the Textile Museum) and carried out by the Italian Superior Institute for Preservation and Restoration.
The programme is divided into 5 courses:
UNIT 1. COMPUTING
Term: 8 weeks
UNIT 2. MUSEOLOGY
Term: 4 weeks
UNIT 3. PLANNED PRESERVATION
Term: 4 weeks
UNIT 4. PRESERVATION: THEORY END PRACTICE
Terms: 16 weeks
UNIT 5. MANAGEMENT AND CONSERVATION OF LIBRARIES
Terms: 3 weeks
Technical assistance in the field of education aims at increasing theoretical and practical participants’ skills, in relation both to restoration actions and comprehensive aspects of museum preservation, as well as managerial and financial aspects in order to increase local professional skills in the fields of analysis, planning, leadership and management of preservation and all other related activities.
2. Egyptian Museum of Tahrir reorganization Master Plan
The Museum function will actually be re-designed with the aim to give a more effective organization and management to strengthen its exhibit capability and enjoyment. Awaited results will be assessed by the incidence of the study as concrete solutions to the problem meant to solve, as much from museology and museography aspects (relation between museum and urban adjoining tissue, architectonic restoration and exhibit design) as those of the development of future construction connected to the required new areas for additional services (book shop, refreshment areas, didactic areas, offices, laboratoies, etc.).
